Police Arrest Ex-Convict Bright Atsu Kudiabor for Posing as Soldier and Extorting Ashaiman Residents

The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested 32-year-old Bright Atsu Kudiabor, an ex-convict, for allegedly impersonating a member of the Ghana Armed Forces to extort money from residents in Ashaiman. The suspect was apprehended on September 16, 2026, at approximately 7:00 a.m. in a locality popularly known as 'I Shall Return'. This arrest follows a proactive intervention by personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service, who initially caught the suspect before handing him over to the police for further investigation. During a subsequent search of Kudiabor's premises, police officers recovered a military camouflage uniform, which is believed to have been used as a prop to facilitate his illegal activities. Authorities indicate that the suspect used the uniform to pose as a legitimate soldier, creating a false sense of authority to intimidate and extort unsuspecting members of the public. Kudiabor is currently being held in police custody as he assists with ongoing inquiries into the full scale of his operations. The Tema Regional Police Command has stated that Kudiabor will be formally processed and arraigned before a court of law once the investigation is complete.
