Three Armed Robbery Suspects Killed in Police Shootout in Ashanti Region

In a significant police operation, three armed robbery suspects were killed during a shootout with the Ashanti South Regional Police near Anwiankwanta. The police acted on intelligence regarding a gang involved in violent crimes across several communities, who were reportedly preparing for a robbery along the Anwiankwanta–Obuasi Highway. When confronted by law enforcement, the suspects opened fire, resulting in a gunfight that left all three injured. They were subsequently taken to a hospital but were pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Authorities recovered multiple firearms and ammunition from the scene, as well as during a follow-up search at a nearby palm plantation. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend any additional accomplices and to trace the origins of the recovered weapons.
