Prof. Anis Bajrektarevic Urges Ethical Shift to Preserve Humanity Amid Rapid AI Advancement
•2 min read•1 source
As Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technologies redefine the global landscape, the central challenge facing society is shifting from technical capability to ethical stewardship. Prof. Anis H. Bajrektarevic argues that the true test of this era lies not in the sophistication of algorithms, but in humanity's collective ability to guide these advancements with heightened moral awareness. The discourse suggests that without a conscious effort to integrate responsibility into the digital framework, the rapid pace of innovation risks overshadowing the fundamental values that define human existence and social cohesion.
Central to this perspective is the need to redefine how global progress is measured in the 21st century. While traditional metrics often prioritize economic growth and computational speed, Prof. Bajrektarevic emphasizes that human development should be evaluated through the lenses of consciousness, ecological sustainability, and social equity. This shift requires a recognition of the deep interconnectedness between humans, their technology, and the natural world. Technology, in this context, is viewed not as an end in itself but as a tool whose ultimate purpose is to enhance human dignity and facilitate self-realization across all levels of society.
Drawing on profound philosophical insights from historical figures such as the poet Rumi and the physicist Max Planck, the analysis posits that wisdom must precede power. The future of the digital age hinges on the capacity of leaders and innovators to use technology for the greater good rather than mere efficiency. This involves a commitment to preserving what is uniquely human—empathy, moral judgment, and the creative spirit—within an increasingly automated world. The argument suggests that technological progress is only meaningful if it serves to elevate the human condition rather than diminish it.
Ultimately, the trajectory of AI development will be determined by the balance struck between technological innovation and moral responsibility. As Ghana and the international community navigate this digital transition, the call to action remains clear: progress must be measured by the wisdom of our choices rather than just the speed of our processors. Ensuring that AI remains a servant to humanity rather than a master of it will require a sustained, multi-disciplinary approach to governance, ethics, and education in the years to come.
