The Ada West District Assembly has successfully distributed essential items and funds to 63 persons with disabilities (PWDs) as part of a program funded by the District Assemblies’ Common Fund. This initiative, aimed at empowering PWDs, included tools for small-scale businesses, 19 deep freezers, educational support, assistive devices, and seed capital tailored to meet the specific needs of the beneficiaries following thorough consultations and assessments.
District Chief Executive Tanihu emphasized that this support is a recognition of the rights of PWDs rather than mere charity, highlighting the importance of empowerment for the district's future. He urged beneficiaries to utilize the resources effectively and maintain transparency during monitoring to ensure sustainability and accountability. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the support, which is designed to significantly improve their livelihoods and foster independence.
