On December 23, 2025, a group of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the Ada East District staged a boycott against a disbursement organized by the local Assembly, citing concerns over alleged procurement violations. The protest was sparked by claims that the items intended for distribution had been procured in violation of established by-laws designed to ensure compliance and transparency. Theophilus Dugbatey Ayim, Chairperson of the Disability Fund Management Committee, highlighted that no official notification regarding the disbursement date had been communicated to the beneficiaries, further fueling the discontent among the PWDs. In response to the low turnout, Assembly officials decided to redirect the distribution efforts to the homes of the intended beneficiaries. Ada East District Chief Executive, Kenneth Kabu Kofi Kanor, has called for calm and expressed willingness to engage in dialogue to address the concerns raised by the PWDs, emphasizing the need for transparency and adherence to regulations in future disbursements.
