In a recent visit to the National Mosque in Accra, the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Duuti Tuaruka, issued a strong warning to criminals, stating that any attempts to engage in illegal activities will be met with decisive action from law enforcement. This statement comes as part of the police's ongoing efforts to combat crime in the region, which Tuaruka attributes to recent reforms and improved crime-fighting strategies.
The visit also served to promote the Gun Amnesty Programme, which allows individuals to voluntarily register or surrender illegal firearms. This initiative is set to conclude on January 15, 2026, and aims to reduce gun violence and enhance community safety. Tuaruka noted the positive community response to the amnesty program and reaffirmed the police's commitment to maintaining law and order in Greater Accra.
